MT-Type Fiber Optic Connector

MT-Type Fiber Optic Connector

A compact multi-fiber MT contact for dense ribbon-fiber interfaces where alignment, vibration resistance and an approved mating design are required.

Product Features

  • Multi-core ribbon-fiber contact for high optical density.
  • Compact MT format for embedded connector and module interfaces.
  • Elastic mating contact supports connection under vibration and impact.
  • Published operating range is -40°C to 80°C.
  • Current data lists a mechanical life of 500 mating cycles.

The MT-Type Fiber Optic Connector is a multi-fiber contact intended for dense optical interfaces such as GDJ8, LRM and VPX-style connector systems, or for connection to an optical module through an MT clip. A ribbon-fiber contact places several optical paths in one compact ferrule and uses elastic contact in the mating system.

This is not a universal field connector. Ferrule geometry, fiber count, alignment hardware, clip arrangement and the surrounding connector must be reviewed as one interface, particularly where vibration and impact performance matter.

Selection & Configuration

Provide the mating connector or module, MT ferrule drawing, fiber count, ribbon sequence, guide-pin arrangement and available strain relief. The current data also lists sinusoidal and random vibration plus impact conditions, but acceptance levels must be tied to the complete assembled connector and approved test plan.

Manufacturing & Customization

Huijue Group can review sample-based or drawing-based MT assemblies, including ribbon preparation and private-label packaging. Feasibility depends on ferrule tooling, dimensional tolerances, alignment method, qualification tests and order quantity; no sample should be copied into production without an approved specification.

Information for an Accurate Quotation

  • MT ferrule and mating-interface drawing
  • Fiber count, type and ribbon map
  • Male/female guide-pin arrangement
  • Mechanical and environmental test plan
  • Sample quantity, tooling and production volume

Operating Temperature: -40℃~+80℃

Vibration: Sinusoidal Vibration: Frequency: 10~2000Hz, Acceleration: 196m/s²; Random Vibration: Frequency: 10~2000Hz, Power Spectral Density: 0.2g²/Hz

Shock: Acceleration 490m/s²

Mechanical Life: 500 Cycles

Insertion Loss of Optical Contacts: Single-Mode: ≤0.8dB, Multi-Mode: ≤0.7dB

Applications

  • Embedded multi-fiber optical modules
  • VPX, LRM and similar high-density interfaces
  • Ribbon-fiber equipment interconnection
  • Compact optical backplane or module assemblies

Installation Notes

Control end-face cleanliness, guide-pin condition, ribbon strain relief and mating force. Vibration or impact suitability must be verified on the finished connector system, not inferred from the MT contact alone.

Buyer Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers specific to MT-Type Fiber Optic Connector selection, configuration and purchasing.

Is an MT ferrule the same as a complete MPO connector?

No. MT describes the multi-fiber ferrule/contact; the complete connector adds a housing, alignment and latching arrangement.

Can an existing connector sample be reproduced?

A sample can support engineering evaluation, but production requires an approved drawing, materials, tolerances and qualification plan.

Does the 500-cycle figure apply to every custom assembly?

It is the current listed mechanical-life value. A custom complete assembly must be validated against its own approved test conditions.
